The Road by Cormac McCarthy

I started this book while on vacation in Hawaii and after reading the Hunger Games, I found the beginning of The Road to be a little slow moving. But it did pick up and I ended up quite enjoying the book.

Well, maybe enjoying is the wrong word to use, this book was just very depressing. It's another post apocalyptic book where there are only a few people still alive on Earth. The story follows a father and son as they travel South in hopes of warmer weather and civilization with "the good guys". They have to travel discreetly in order to avoid "the bad guys" who are the humans who have banned together to become cannibals and are in constant search of a "meal".

Gross, I know. But don't worry, it's a good book, however I was a little disappointed with the ending which was a little short and abrupt.

It is now a movie that should be coming out soon, I'm curious to see how well they adapted the book into a screen play. I will definitely be seeing the movie and I definitely recommend this book but it is not one I will be reading again. Too depressing.
